Happy Friday, RISERS! I hope this week has been good to you. This is my last weekend before I get another year older. It’s funny that I have been so mellow about getting this old. Age is only a number, and whether you feel “old” or not is a matter of the mind. On another note, I’m thankful that the groundhog “saw” the right thing for an early spring…at least here in East Tennessee. I hope you have a wonderful weekend!
Quote of the Week: “It’s your attitude, not your aptitude, that will determine your altitude.” –Zig Ziglar
Song of the Week: This week, I want to give a shout-out to a man whose birthday is the same as mine…Bobby McFerrin. In his 1988 hit song “Don’t Worry, Be Happy,” he not only did the vocals, but also all of the musical sounds. This song reminds its listeners to be happy, no matter what situations are thrown at us. The music video is hilarious, as both Robin Williams and Bill Irwin have cameos. The best way to change your reaction to any situation is to keep a positive attitude.
Joke of the Week: No matter how much you push the envelope…it’ll still be stationary.
Nugget of Wisdom of the Week: Positivity. I feel confident that I have touched on this subject in the past, but it is one that we may never tire of talking about. Having a positive attitude is the first step to believing that whatever you try will come to pass. In the past, I have been lucky enough to win several things from my local radio station: a $100 Kroger gift card, season passes to the Knoxville Theater, and a few other smaller things. As soon as I heard what I needed to do to win the prize—be the certain-numbered person to call in with the correct answer to the question—I knew immediately that I would win it and called in.
I know what you’re thinking: “That doesn’t mean it will happen to me.” Well, with an attitude like that, it won’t. Ha-ha. Seriously, as Zig Ziglar said in the quote mentioned above, having a positive attitude can help you get more “wins” in your everyday life.
Recipe of the Week: Tuna Pasta Salad
What you’ll need:
8 oz. (half box) of spiral noodles
1 can of tuna, drained
½ cup of peas, cooked and drained
Mayonnaise
Cook the noodles according to package directions, drain off water, then combine in a bowl with the tuna and cooked peas. Add mayonnaise to achieve desired moistness. Serve either warm or chilled.
Shout-Out of the Week: This week, I want to give a shout-out to everyone struggling to stay positive. Whether you are in the midst of heavy trials or have just made it out of the valley, you’e got this. Have a great weekend. Remember, you are most awesome, and YOU ROCK!
